Weaver Hope Group Christmas Party
(we've done it a couple of times so it's a tradition)...

Friday night, December 7th. 6:00 p.m. at C&J's in Bryan (on the "bend" in Texas Avenue north of Villa Maria).

Re-gift a present and bring it -- we'll do something fun with them! One for each person who wants to take a gift home with them...

We'll provide an activity for the kids. See you there!

Relationship Week - Our Week to Party!

Here's the plan for this week: we're calling this "Relationship Week" since we had regular Hope Group on Relationship Week night... anyway....
We'll meet at our house at 5:45 and go together to the Fall Festival at Christ's Way Baptist Church -- it's the church across from Bowen Elementary which is just across Booneville from our neighborhood. The festival goes from 6-8:30 and everything is free and fun. We went last year and it was a great opportunity for the kids to dress up in costumes and do a lot of fun stuff. No emphasis on spooky or scary here, just fun stuff like hay rides, popcorn and fishing games.
We do love spending time with you and with your kids! Avery wasn't with us at church last night and so Graeme was a little apprehensive about going by himself to Children's Worship. How cool is it that Graeme gets in the car after church and tells us -- "I just hung out with Silva, cuz I know her."... Blessed to know you and do this living together with you and your families.

Updates!

Regular Hope Group tomorrow night (17th) at our house. We'll do "Relationship Week" the week of the 31st. Plan is to attend the Fall Festival at Christ's Way Baptist Church together on the 31st (Halloween night). Fun, free, fellowship!
Next week is Community Ministry Week. Here's the plan. We'll help on Tuesday night at Anson Jones Elementary. This school has very little involvement in their PTO and that's why they need us! They are putting on a Math and Science Family Night that evening and need our help to provide some childcare from 4:45 until 6:30. You must have completed a BISD background check. We'll offer childcare for your kids at our house on Tues. from 4:30-6:45 so you can help. So, make plans to help at Jones -- they are counting on us. We'll give you more details tomorrow night!

Baby News!

The Hillands have a new edition! For those of you at Hope Group last night, you know we got the update that Carla was having contractions at that time. "Baby Hilland" was born at 12:34 a.m.! She weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. The labor and delivery went great -- all natural (way to go Carla!) and everyone is doing very well! She has a full head of dark hair but no official name yet... suggestions? Jacob is very excited to be a big brother!

Hot Dog Happening

Wednesday was fun! Thanks to everyone for bringing the fixin's! Thanks especially to the Dillards for providing us with the hot dogs and buns. Anyone missing a maroon fold-up camp chair? We'll return it for a yet to be determined ranson. Don't worry though -- we're feeding it and looking after it while it's with us.
Thanks also for the help with the piano! I'm so glad that Craig didn't try that by himself!
Check in for upcoming plans!

Update on numbers for our hot dog event on Wednesday for those of you bringing stuff...

I think we could have as many as 45 people eating! Turn-out should be pretty good from our group and we may even have some neighbors stopping by!

I think we'll probably be feeding around 30, but plan for 45 in case!

Call us if the number/amount of whatever you're responsible for is making you dizzy!

Hot Dog Happening

Come over for hot dogs, fixin's and fun!

6:30 at the Weaver's house. This Wednesday, July 11th.

We're doing this shin-dig outside, so bring your lawn chairs and mosquito spray!

Anyone have a card table or two we could borrow?

What about a portable fan (or two)?

Let me know!

If we haven't talked, give us a call and I'll let you know what you can bring to add to the menu!

Bring your kid's bikes and wheeled vehicles and we'll try and block off our cul-de-sac for the fun -- we're going to include our neighbors!

We may do some car-pooling back and forth to the pool parking lot if we have too many grown-up wheeled vehicles blocking the fun!

No Hope Group this week.

How about a Potluck Supper on July 11th at our house? Have some card tables and chairs we could use? Could you contribute some paper goods? What do you think? A theme? A "leave it up to chance" kind of affair? Thoughts?

United in Baptism
Ephesians 4:4-6
We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future. There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all.
Praise God for our glorious futures!

Please join us this Wednesday, June 20th to celebrate the sacrament of baptism!
Bring your bathing suits and pool toys and we'll all take the dip afterwards!
Copperfield Pool, 7-9 p.m. (Look for the pool on your right as you come into the neighborhood -- it's before you get to Sam Houston Elementary)

We received this e-mail from Mark Henry... just passing the information along in case someone in our group might be able to help with this need.

The children’s ministry is currently in great need of vehicles (and possibly drivers) to transport children to pre-teen camp. Approximately 61 children and adults will be going and we currently have room for 36. Please email this need to your HOPE group – we will need transportation on Monday the 25th and Thursday the 28th. It’s about a 3 hour drive. Have them contact Mark Henry at mhenry@tamu.edu if they can help.

Meet & Eat Wednesday

Time to meet again. We're planning on meeting for dinner on Wednesday at 6:45 -- The Feed Barn. If you've never been to the Feed Barn, they've got great burgers, chicken fried steaks, catfish, steaks, chicken, etc. Prices are very reasonable! They have a "meeting room" I'll try to reserve for us... If you have no idea how to find the Feed Barn, the address to "mapquest" is 2017 Fountain Drive, Bryan, Texas 77801, or give us a call and we'll get you there! Let me know you've got the details and I won't call you with all of this info. again! Hope to see you all there!

Update

Talked to Carla this morning. The fracture is at L1 and not C1 -- so lower back, not neck. Jeremy's pain is a little better controlled with the back brace on but he is still in pain when he moves around. Pain medication he was given in the ER kept him (them) up last night with nausea and vomitting, so let's pray that passes quickly and his pain can be controlled without the side-effects. Also pray for their rest!

Keep your eyes and ears open -- we may be able to help them out by providing some meals, but they are covered tonight.

Pray for Carla who is pregnant -- this is all a lot for her to deal with. Praises though -- Jeremy is doing alright, he will be alright and no one else was hurt!

Update on Jeremy

I think I was able to talk to everyone and/or leave a message to let you know that Jeremy Hilland needs our prayers. Jeremy was in a single vehicle accident this morning and after a long wait in the emergency room was diagnosed with a compression fracture of his C1 vertebrae (upper neck). Jeremy has been in a considerable amount of pain throughout the day, but once he was fitted with a brace, his pain was somewhat better. He will need our continued prayers as the treatment for this type of injury is limited and he will most likely continue to have pain and discomfort as he recovers. I'll keep everyone posted -- I'll be in contact with Carla tomorrow and perhaps we can organize some meals or some other way to help their family...

Hanging out at the park was fun! Thanks to the Davis' for bringing water bottles for everyone!

Everyone should be getting an e-mail that "invites" them to join this blog. Seriously, my computer IQ is not real high, and I managed to do this! You'll be asked to create an account (it's free) and then you'll be able to post to this blog as well. To do that, just go to blogspot.com and log in with the username and password you'll select when you create your account.

This should save us a lot of phone calls and message-leaving (which isn't very reliable most of the time anyway). I'm hoping that this blog will be a place we can communicate with each other about upcoming events, pass on things from Mark Henry or from our deacon, and share prayer requests, praises, etc.

We need feedback! Try it -- let me know if you're having trouble with the process!

New Hope Group Blog! Wow! Duly Impressed?

Here's to moving into the "information era"! Since we're doing things a little different this summer, thought it would be important to stay in touch and provide a place where we can all check-in to see what's going on as well as reply to things... let me know if this works for you! I won't promise to get fancy with pictures and things like that, but who knows?

Looks like we have some pretty significant things going on among us (if you don't know what I'm talking about, then you'd better come on Wed.)! We're planning on meeting this Wednesday, the 30th. Still trying to come up with a good plan... I'm planning on calling Bryan Parks & Rec. tomorrow to see if there's a pavillion (with restrooms) open Wed. night. If the weather is alright, we can let the kids play on the playground and have time to talk and meet together. We'll bring an ice-chest with juice boxes. Who'll bring an ice-chest with bottled water?

If the weather is still rainy, it still may work -- we could set the kids up at a picnic table with some board games, art projects, etc. (and lots of mosquito spray)!

Get back to me with any fabulous ideas and we'll figure it out. Check back before Wed. and I'll post the final plans and times here.

More summer fun to come!
